1. Who operates Chromatica

Chromatica is operated by Ana Barros, operating as Mothlume Studio. Contact: hello@mothlumestudio.com.

2. Information we may process

Chromatica can be used without signing in. In that case, the app stores your collection and paint quantities, wishlist, Sets and Subsets, and relevant app preferences locally on your device.

When you create or use a Chromatica account, we may process information associated with your account, such as your email address, user identifier, display name and profile information supplied by the authentication method you choose.

Chromatica supports authentication through email and password and Google sign-in.

When you sign in, Chromatica can synchronise your collection and paint quantities, wishlist, and Sets and Subsets through Cloud Firestore so that they can be restored on another device using the same Chromatica account. Not all app data is account-associated or stored in the cloud.

3. Firebase

Chromatica uses Firebase services provided by Google. Firebase Authentication is used for Google and email/password sign-in. Cloud Firestore is used for the private synchronisation described above and for specific service-security functions such as shared Set publishing terms and moderation reports.

4. Third-party authentication

If you choose Google sign-in, Google may process information as part of the sign-in process. Google processes information according to its own privacy policy and terms.

5. How we use information

• Create and manage your Chromatica account.
• Authenticate you when you sign in.
• Provide application features and, when you sign in, synchronise supported app data.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse and review shared Set reports.
• Diagnose technical problems.
• Respond to support or privacy requests.

6. Legal basis

Where European data protection law applies, personal data may be processed when necessary to provide the service requested by the user, to comply with legal obligations, or on the basis of legitimate interests relating to the operation and security of Chromatica. Where consent is required by law, processing will be based on the consent provided by the user.

7. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers required to operate Chromatica, including Google Firebase, the authentication provider selected by the user, Google Mobile Ads, Google User Messaging Platform and Google Play.

8. Shared set codes

Publishing and importing shared set codes are available to Chromatica Premium users. Publishing a shared set code also requires a signed-in Chromatica account as an abuse-prevention measure. Importing a shared set code does not require a Chromatica account, but requires Premium access.

When you publish a set code, Chromatica stores a fixed copy of that set's name, sections and paint references. A Premium user with the code can import that copy. Do not include personal information in set or section names.

Shared copies do not update when the original set changes. Once published, the shared set document does not store the UID, email address or account name of the user who created it. The shared set document is therefore not linked to the publishing account and is not automatically deleted when that account is deleted.

If you report a shared Set, Chromatica stores the reporter's user identifier, the shared Set code, the report reason, any optional details you provide, the report date and its moderation status. This information is used to review reports, prevent abuse and operate the shared Set service.

9. Advertising and consent

The Free version of Chromatica may show banner advertising through Google AdMob. Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform may process device, advertising and technical information as needed to provide advertising and manage applicable consent choices. Google User Messaging Platform also manages, where applicable, consent choices related to Analytics. Where available, you can revisit these privacy choices in the app's Settings. Chromatica does not sell personal information or control the advertising data processing carried out by Google's services.

10. Analytics and usage statistics

Chromatica uses Google Analytics for Firebase to obtain aggregated information about how the app is used and to improve its features, catalogue and user experience.

When Analytics is enabled, Google Analytics for Firebase may automatically collect technical and usage information such as a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, device and operating-system information, app version, sessions, screen views, approximate geographic location and certain events related to in-app purchases.

Chromatica may also record events about how its features are used, such as paints viewed or added to a collection, wishlist or Set, and use of the scanner, Colour Tools, recommendations, palette expansion and Premium features. Usage of Shared Sets may be included when that Analytics instrumentation is implemented.

Chromatica does not send your name, email address, Firebase UID, payment information, purchase tokens, order IDs, free-form search text, scanned barcodes or EANs, Set names or Shared Set codes to Google Analytics.

Android Advertising ID collection and Analytics ad-personalisation signals are disabled. Google Analytics uses pseudonymous app-instance identifiers to calculate usage metrics; Chromatica does not set an Analytics user ID using your Chromatica account, Firebase UID, name or email address.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Analytics collection remains disabled until the applicable consent choices have been resolved through Google User Messaging Platform. UMP manages the applicable advertising and Analytics consent choices, which can be reviewed or changed through the privacy options available in the app. In other regions, usage statistics may be enabled by default and can be disabled from Settings when that option is available.

11. Premium and Google Play

Chromatica Premium is a one-time purchase through Google Play; it is not a subscription. Google Play processes purchase and payment information under its own terms and privacy practices. Chromatica does not receive your full payment-card details. A Google Play Premium entitlement is independent of whether you sign in to a Chromatica account.

12. Camera and colour features

Camera access is used when you choose camera-based paint scanning or live colour selection. The app processes the camera preview and barcode or colour information locally to provide these features. Chromatica does not upload or store camera images or preview frames. If you choose a photo from your device for colour selection, the app reads that photo locally for the selected feature.

13. Data retention

Local app data remains on your device until you clear it or delete the app, subject to any device backup settings you control. Private synchronised data remains while your Chromatica account is active. When account deletion is completed, Chromatica deletes the private synchronised data associated with that account and the local collection, wishlist and Sets held by the app on that device. Published shared Set copies are independent records and may remain because they are not linked to the publishing account. Moderation reports may be retained where reasonably necessary to review reports and prevent abuse.

14. Account and data deletion

You may request deletion of your Chromatica account and associated personal data. Instructions are available on our Account & Data Deletion page.

15. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection. Privacy requests can be sent to hello@mothlumestudio.com.

16. Children and intended audience

Chromatica is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not designed for children.

17. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect account information and application data. However, no internet-based system can guarantee absolute security.

18. International processing

Some service providers used by Chromatica may process information in countries other than your own. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards are used for international transfers of personal data.

19. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Chromatica, its services or applicable legal requirements change. The latest version will be available at this URL.
